Located between Amir Bachir and Bechara El Khoury streets, Area O passed away in 1998. Area O was famous for “Zein Building” that overlooked Martyrs’ square. It contained “La Ronda Café” which took part of Lebanon’s café scene. British comedian Tony Hancock enjoyed smoking the chicha on La Ronda’s balcony overlooking Martyrs’ Square. Other commercial and entertainment spaces included “Hotel d’Amerique”, “The Orient Club”, and “Al Wazzi Sweets”.
The area O is survived by a parking hole for 23 years.
